Dirt Returns to the High Desert: Sweetwater Speedway Set for Season Opener on May 22
ROCK SPRINGS, WY — The roar of engines and the scent of racing fuel are set to return to the 3/8-mile oval at Sweetwater Speedway. On Friday, May 22, Sweetwater Speedway will officially wave the green flag on the 2026 racing season with a high-octane double-header dubbed "May Mayhem."
Brought to you by Pitt Stop Motorsports, the season opener promises to be a showcase of regional talent and speed. Fans can expect a packed field of competitors across the speedway’s signature classes, including:

-IMCA Sport Mods
-IMCA Hobby Stocks
-IMCA Sport Compacts
-Go-Karts (Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced)
Family-Focused Fun & Fair Prices
Sweetwater Speedway continues its tradition of providing affordable family entertainment. For the 2026 season, general admission remains accessible for all ages:
Adults (18-59): $15.00 and $20.00 for special events
Seniors (60+), Military, & Teens (13-17): $10.00
Kids (12 & Under): Free

Grandstand Gates Open: 4:30 PM
Hot Laps: 7:00 PM
Racing Starts: 7:15 PM
The "May Mayhem" action continues through Saturday, May 23, setting the stage for a summer packed with major events, including the ASCS Sprint Car Summer Sizzler in June and the Ken Hansen Memorial over the July 4th weekend.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to secure their favorite seats in the grandstands and visit the concession area for speedway favorites.
