Sweetwater Speedway Delivers Thrilling Action, Sets Stage for Championship Showdown

Rock Springs, WY – Sweetwater Speedway was abuzz with excitement this past weekend as racers battled under the lights on August 15th and 16th, setting the stage for a dramatic conclusion to the 2025 season. With the final races looming on August 29th and 30th, every point mattered, and the competition was fierce across all classes.
In the highly competitive IMCA Modified division, the "Wild Child" Casey Delp, in the 2W, made it a clean sweep, dominating the weekend's events. On Friday night, Delp quickly battled his way to the front for a commanding lead. He repeated the performance on Saturday, starting deep in the pack and masterfully navigating his way through the field to secure another victory in a caution free green to checkered battle. These impressive finishes have significantly boosted his standing in the points chase, putting him in a strong position as the season winds down.
The #1 of Cole Marlatt of Riverton took home his first ever IMCA Sport Modified win on Saturday against some stiff competition. Marlatt started 3rd and took and was able to take the lead early in the race and pull away. As few late race cautions caught the field up, but he was able to maintain command on the restarts and bring home the victory.
The IMCA Hobby Stock joined the field this week and saw two first time first-time winners. On Friday night Jeramy Johnson of Fairview Utah put on a commanding show and then the 33R of Race Vasquez out of Price Utah took the win on Saturday. These are both first time wins at the tracks for these drivers out of Utah.
The IMCA Stock Cars put on a great show with the 77 of Levi Card out of West Valley City Utah bringing home the win on Friday and local favorite Justen Yeager bringing home the win on Saturday.
The IMCA Sport Compacts put on impressive shows both nights. Friday nights race started out with a roll over from Ernie Licking before the first lap was even completed and a caution filled night brought Cody Poll the victory. On Saturday the drivers went green to checkered with Mark Hammond having an impressive run only to get beaten in the last few laps by Ethan Poll. There has been tight racing all season with these drivers and the Sport Compact Special coming up on August 29th and 30th will be a race to watch.
The weekend's other main event winners showcased their talent and determination:

The points standings are incredibly tight heading into the final race weekend, promising a nail-biting finish. In the IMCA Modifieds, Braxton Yeager holds a narrow one-point lead over Michael Hale, with Bryson Yeager and Casey Delp close behind, making the final two races a true championship showdown. The IMCA Sport Mod points battle is equally intense, with Tony Dugan leading by just five points over both Shawn Parish and David Pitt, who are tied for second. In the IMCA Sport Compacts, Cody Poll maintains a solid lead, but with the field so tightly packed, a misstep could shake up the final standings.
Fans are encouraged to come out to Sweetwater Speedway on August 29th and 30th for the season's grand finale and the IMCA Sport Compact Special. The track is expecting over 30 compacts from Wyoming, Utah, Idaho and Colorado to join the show. And don’t miss out on the driver meet and greet with the a few Dirt Drag drivers who will be putting on a show during intermission. That event will be held on September 5th and 6th with racing starting at 6pm both nights. For more information and tickets, visit the website at http://www.sweetwaterspeedway.com/schedules/
