Sweetwater Speedway Delivers Thrilling Doubleheader with High Car Counts and Yeager Family Sweep
Rock Springs, WY – Sweetwater Speedway was alive with the roar of engines on June 6th and 7th, as the track hosted an exhilarating weekend of racing that saw impressive car counts and fierce competition. Fans were treated to intense battles and memorable victories, including a remarkable family podium sweep and a dominant performance by a debuting sprint car driver.
Friday, June 6th: Debuts and Dominance
The Friday night program kicked off with high energy, setting the stage for a weekend of outstanding dirt track action. The ASCS Northern Plains Sprints made their presence known, with Adam Trimble (5D) of Pueblo, Colorado, making an immediate impact. In his debut at Sweetwater, Trimble wasted no time in securing an impressive victory with a quick time of 13.50 seconds on the 3/8-mile track.
In the IMCA Modified division, the crowd witnessed a fantastic showdown between Casey Delp (2w) and Bryson Yeager (33y), with Delp ultimately bringing home the win in a nail-biting finish. The IMCA Sport Mod class saw Jacob Vasquez (23J) from Price, Utah, capture his first win at the speedway after a hard-fought battle with Tony Dugan (5D) of Colorado.
Consistent performers also found victory lane, as Marc Hammond (2) claimed the top spot in the IMCA Sport Compact A Feature. In the IMCA Hobby Stock division, Ed Henderson powered his way to a first-place finish, marking a strong start to his weekend out in the class.
Saturday, June 7th: A Family Affair and Clean Sweeps
Saturday continued the momentum, delivering more captivating races and a special moment for the Yeager family. Adam Trimble (5D) proved Friday's win was no fluke, making it a clean sweep for the weekend in the ASCS Northern Plains Sprints with another commanding victory in his second night at the track.
The IMCA Modifieds provided one of the most memorable finishes of the weekend. In a remarkable display of talent, the Yeager family achieved a 1-2-3 finish. Youngest of the trio, Bryson Yeager (33y), drove to the front to claim the win, followed by brother Braxton (33BY) in second, and father Justen Yeager (33) rounding out the podium in third. Justen Yeager's consistent performance throughout the season has also placed him at the top, as he currently leads the points at Sweetwater Speedway.
In the IMCA Sport Mod feature, Tony Dugan (5D) of Colorado found his way to victory lane, securing his second win of the season at the speedway. Marc Hammond (2) continued his dominance in the IMCA Sport Compact class, making it a clean sweep for the weekend after fending off current points leader Cody Poll.
Finally, the IMCA Hobby Stock race saw Preslie Thorne holding an impressive lead, but it was Ed Henderson who once again found a way to the front, making it a clean sweep for his opening weekend in the Hobby Stock class.
Fans reveled in the high car counts and intense racing that characterized the entire weekend. Sweetwater Speedway's next event is scheduled for July 4th and 5th, featuring the High Plains Dirt Car Late Models as the special class.
